“A Union with God is Vital for a Successful Marriage,” says Pastor Chris

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, prolific author and creator of the worldwide daily devotional phenomenon, Rhapsody of Realities uses a quote from the bible to explain the connection between eternal life, our union with God, and the importance of God in a marriage.

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son (1 John 5:11 NIV). There’s a legal union that we have with God that Jesus brought us into, but receiving eternal life brought us into a vital union with God.

The Man of God explains that marriage between a man and a woman has a basis of mutual consent and a legally binding contract. Once they start a family, this is now a vital union, different from the legal union, says Pastor Chris.

The legal union only has authority if there is a problem regarding things like inheritance, the courts will need the legality of that marriage to make decisions.

The benefits of a union with God

Likewise, Pastor Chris explains: “Jesus brought us into a legal union with Himself and with our heavenly Father. He also gave us something that brought us into a vital union with Himself and with our heavenly Father. So, we have both the legal and the vital. Eternal life brings us into a vital union with our heavenly Father.”

He continues to divulge the benefits of our union with God saying: “One of the great benefits of our vital union with God (the result of eternal life) is that eternal life also gives us divine health, which is better than divine healing. There’s a place for healing, but something far better is divine health. It’s a great thing to be healed, but never being sick is far better.”

As it is written in 1 John 5:12-13, “Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.”

“A union with God is vital for a successful marriage,” says Pastor Chris Oyakhilome.

A family that prays together stays together

Having fellowship with God is one of the most important activities for married couples each day, Pastor Chris recommends, saying that Rhapsody of Realities is designed to help families study and walk in the light of God’s word each day within their marriage and general family life.

There are many practical teachings, inspiring revelations, anecdotes, illustrations, word-based prayers, and confessions that will help to build your commitment to God and your family.

Not only will the daily messages enhance your spiritual growth and development, but they will also enrich your spirit and give your day a lift.

What is God’s Purpose?

In another study of Rhapsody of Realities, we read from Ephesians 2:10 about God’s purpose in our lives:

“For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them.”

Pastor Chris explains that as one who’s born again, your life has been so excellently planned out and preordained by God. All He wants is for you to follow the blueprint.

We must learn through the Spirit and the Word of God what His plan and purpose for our lives entails, and how we walk therein.

There are things that many people will do in life even though they aren’t part of God’s agenda for them.

They want to live their lives for the joy of other people; they want certain jobs, professions, or positions because others are pressuring them to. As in all things, God wants to guide you.

And Pastor Chris assures us that we will be amazed at how fast and clearly He’ll speak to us and give us the guidance we need.

“Never find yourself always insisting on what you want; ask God. You can be as happy as ever, fulfilling God’s purpose for your life. That’s the most important thing—discovering your purpose and fulfilling it,” Pastor Chris reminds us.
