Seize Every Opportunity to Give

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome in the recently concluded Praise Night, quoted from Philippians 4:19: “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” He also stated that “whenever you are given an opportunity to give to God, seize it! It means a lot in heaven. It is an eternal thing. God never forgets, and He will always bless you”.

There is nothing more rewarding in life than being able to share with others what one has to give. The enormous satisfaction of giving is a gift of great value that we must cultivate. There are a million possibilities on how a person can give to others in need.

As long as the world exists, there will be a time for planting and a time for harvest. There will always be cold and heat, summer, and winter, day and night (Genesis 8:22).

Christian Values

One of the most central values in Christianity is the concept of giving. Through giving, the Word of God ensures constant and continuous economic prosperity. Many people overlook the importance of giving. They are not as eager to give as they are to receive, yet the promised blessing is to “giver” and not to the “receiver”. As Jesus said: “It is more blessed to give than to receive”.

“And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:8).

God can grace you with every blessing and favor in richness. This is not just about money, giving, or receiving. The Word of Jesus was about the entire concept of giving. Sow the seed of anything good you want from life in others, it will then grow and multiply in your own life. Remember:

“Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets (Matthew 7:12)”.

When you apply the law of sowing, it works. As long as there is seed time, it means harvest is assured and it can be anytime; the harvest happens automatically.

Pastor Chris expressed in Rhapsody of Realities that God isn’t necessarily the one to make the harvest happen. All He does is to channel His grace and favor towards you for superabundance so that you may always be self-sufficient, possessing enough to require no aid or support, and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation.

Be Excited About Giving

Pastor Chris reminds us to always be excited about giving. Be motivated to give all the time, for whatever you give shall be multiplied back to you. Now the Lord Jesus didn’t say, “Give money, and money shall be given back unto you.” He said, “Give!” That means absolutely anything: time, prayers, anything! Whatever good thing you desire in your life, sow the seed of it into the lives of others and it will be multiplied in your own life.

The blessing is for the giver, therefore make up your mind to keep giving, and always out-give your past. A giver is an automatic receiver because the more you give the more you receive. Never become tired of giving, and when you give don’t complain. Instead, be the one the Bible describes in 2 Corinthians 9:7 a cheerful, joyous, “prompt to do it” giver, whose heart is in his giving. The measure with which you give is the measure with which you’ll receive. Therefore always give lavishly and bountifully, for that’s the secret of receiving and living in the overflow of God’s blessings.

If only you knew all that you are giving to the Lord could do for you! It connects you and everything that concerns you with God’s Spirit and gives you results that aren’t only for today, but for tomorrow and for all time.

Each time you have the opportunity to give, be excited. Our lives as Christians should depict the character of our heavenly Father, who gave His precious Son, Jesus, for our salvation (John 3:16).

In every gift of God, you get better by practice. So, practice giving your best; it comes with myriads of blessings and promotions of the Spirit.
