At the Global Communion Service of December when Pastor Chris revealed that the blessings of November shall continue there was raptured joy from the global community. Pastor Chris’s sermons are always worth listening to. The wisdom increases each time you hear them.
As December is the month of ‘Blessings in Thanksgiving’ we will be thinking our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for the blessings he has given us. Pastor Chris’s sermon, ‘Five Blessings In His Name’ is available on the Pastor Chris Digital Library App. It is a sermon where we learn about the fundamental blessings that are the source of many beautiful beginnings.
What are the five blessings that we can give thanks for?
1 Repentance
What is it? Turning away from something that is wrong. Changing your mind from doing wrong to doing right. In Acts 3:26 it says ‘When God raised up his servant, he sent him first to you to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways.” God sent Jesus to bless us as we repent our sins. It’s a blessing to be able to change your mind, turn from the wrong direction and repent. Luke 24:47 Jesus commanded, ” And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.” He urges men to turn away from sin and to God.
2 Remission and forgiveness
The next blessing is remission and forgiveness. Both words are translated from the same Greek word in the New Testament. Remission is the complete removal of sin which the blood of Jesus gives and does by washing away man’s sins while forgiveness is pardon.
Remission of sins is only available in Jesus. (Acts 13:38)” Be it known unto you, therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:” Pastor Chris tells us there is no other religion that provides the remission of sins. Remission of sins is possible in the name of Jesus. If you believe in Jesus you have remission of sins in his name. Only Jesus wipes them away, to be remembered no more.
3 Eternal life
This is another blessing in his name. To be born again means the very life and nature of God is imparted into your spirit. When you are born again means the very life and God is impacted in your spirit. Reading John 20:30 Pastor Chris enlightens us and reminds us that we have eternal life because we believe.
John, a close disciple of Jesus wrote this letter,” And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life, and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.” (John 5:11) How many people walk around dead in spirit and in darkness? Pastor Chris asks how can you live without God. He goes on to say we have to let the world know this, we have to tell people because how can they know about if they have not heard.
Those who believe in the name of Jesus Christ you have eternal life. If God doesn’t tell you you don’t know when you are born again you are active in the spirit. Born again you are alive to god. If you are not born again you are in the spirit realm just not alive to god and don’t know where you are going. The blessing of eternal life when you are born again is clear because you have the life and nature of God in your spirit.
4 Healing and health
Pastor Chris reminds us that the Bible says that Peter and John came to the Temple where Jesus had been and they saw the same man asking for alms daily. In Acts 3:6 it is said, “Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk,”. Pastor Chris asks how did Peter get this power? In (Acts 3:16) it says” And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.”
He received health as well as healing. There’s something about the name of Jesus that delivers perfect health to his believers. What makes healing happen is the name of Jesus.
5 The Holy Spirit
Pastor Chris concludes his sermon with a reminder of the blessings of the Holy Spirit that come in the name of Jesus: –
- I house the Holy Ghost in my body- we receive him. We are the temple of the Holy Ghost.
- We Minister through the Holy Ghost
- We have true hope through the Holy Ghost. We have true hope through the Holy Ghost
- We have Control through the Holy Ghost
- We pray through the Holy Ghost
We thank God for insightful teachers. Pastor Chris explains the nuances of the Holy Bible like no other teacher. After hearing his sermons, we are edified and encouraged to spread the Good News. We have a lot to be thankful for because of the blessing we have in His name.
