As we bring the ‘Year of Redemption’ to a close, the month of December holds a special place in the hearts of millions around the world, as Pastor Chris Oyakhilome has declared it the ‘Month of Thanksgiving.’ This divine focus, shared during the December 2024 Global Communion Service on Sunday, December 1st, was a time of profound blessings and spiritual insight for participants across the globe.
December serves as an opportunity for believers to reflect on the goodness of God throughout the year. As Pastor Chris profoundly shared, “Offer thanksgiving to God according to how He’s blessed you.” This simple yet powerful instruction encapsulates the spirit of gratitude and acknowledgment for God’s manifold blessings.
Why Thanksgiving Matters
Thanksgiving is more than a routine acknowledgment; it is a profound expression of faith and gratitude. Pastor Chris emphasized during the service that true thanksgiving goes beyond words. While vocal expressions of gratitude are essential, they are complemented by a tangible act of faith—a thanksgiving offering. He highlighted that “There is no thanksgiving without the thanksgiving offering,” pointing out the spiritual depth and importance of this act.
Giving thanks to God is a reminder of His grace and provision. It helps believers remain grounded in faith, fostering a heart of humility and reverence. As Pastor Chris explained, aligning our thanksgiving with the blessings we’ve received is a spiritual principle that opens doors to even greater manifestations of God’s goodness.
How to Celebrate the ‘Month of Thanksgiving’
This December, Pastor Chris invites everyone to reflect on their lives and recognize the areas where God’s blessings have been evident. Here are some ways believers can celebrate the ‘Month of Thanksgiving’:
- Reflect on God’s Goodness Take time to meditate on the year’s experiences. Identify moments where God’s hand was evident—whether in provision, healing, protection, or guidance. Gratitude begins with recognizing His active presence in your life.
- Express Gratitude Through Prayer Dedicate moments of prayer to thank God specifically for what He has done. Use this time to acknowledge His faithfulness and sovereignty.
- Give a Thanksgiving Offering Following Pastor Chris’ teaching, prepare a thanksgiving offering as an act of faith and appreciation. This offering is a tangible expression of gratitude, presented in God’s house.
- Share Your Testimony Testify to God’s goodness by sharing your experiences with others. Your testimony could inspire faith and gratitude in someone else’s life.
- Engage in Acts of Kindness Extend the spirit of thanksgiving by blessing others. Acts of kindness and generosity reflect the love of Christ and honor God’s blessings in your life.
The Spirit of Gratitude
As December unfolds, the ‘Month of Thanksgiving’ becomes a journey of spiritual enrichment and joy. Pastor Chris’ declaration serves as a divine reminder of the importance of maintaining a grateful heart. Gratitude not only honors God but also positions believers to receive more of His blessings.
Thanksgiving is a powerful force that realigns the heart, strengthens faith, and fosters a deeper connection with God. As Pastor Chris has taught, offering thanks in alignment with God’s blessings is an essential part of the believer’s life. Let this December be a time of celebration, reflection, and deep gratitude for all that God has done.
