‘Hand of Love’ initiative gives free school supplies to secure future of children in low-income communities.
Over 400 children living in Toronto’s inner-city communities were going to school with practically zero school supplies. Day after day, these kids would show up to school without even a pen in hand. Their learning experience was completely hindered, sitting at an empty desk these countless children were not able to participate in the day’s lessons. These kids would finish the school day feeling terribly unaccomplished and not quite knowing where to turn.
That was until Pastor Richards and Taba Pena of Christ Embassy Toronto Bayview got wind of this situation, and called on some generous sponsors and partners of the ‘Hand of Love’ initiative, an organization that offers a broad range of ever-growing assistance programs for those in need, such as food baskets, Thanksgiving packages, back to school drives, shoe drives, and Christmas Sparkle Bags.
The local Christ Embassy Bayview, together with the Hand of Love initiative created the ‘Operation Backpack 4 Knowledge’ and succeeded in meeting the many needs of these children.
The line-up began from the early hours of the morning, aiming to assist as many children in Toronto’s inner cities as possible. Among these kids were according to LoveWorld News, Syrian refugees who fled their war-torn country. Pastor Chris, who commented on the wonderful initiative, was delighted to see his congregation acting on their faith by ensuring that every soul was enriched with the privilege of an education. “Indeed, “every child is your child,”, this is precisely the approach we should all be having towards our youth.
Toronto’s’ children are now back in class fully enjoying the privilege of an education with their new school supplies. We are certainly looking forward to seeing what the future holds for these children of God. With a bright and blessed path ahead, these youths have been emboldened with the spirit and the Word of God. These are truly all children of the man of God, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome.
It is clear to see that being in Christ Embassy is more than just belonging to a church. Christ Embassy is a vision that embodies the spirit of the Word of God. Contribute to you community as best you can with the #Community Sunday effort by donating school supplies, clothes, food, toys and more. By empowering the youth, you can help to strengthen the world around you.
