At the recently concluded Global Communion Service, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome declared September the ‘Month of Conquerors’. As we embark on this new month, in the last quarter of the ‘Year of Redemption,’ we are reminded of the victory that comes from our faith in Christ.
Pastor Chris: “Stand up and Make Your Voice Heard”
“God is saying, where are my conquerors and victors? Stand up and make your voice heard ” — Pastor Chris Oyakhilome.
Joy erupted across the globe when the man of God, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, announced the new month of September as the ‘Month of Conquerors’ at the September Global Communion service on the first day of the month. “This month, we’re standing up and declaring the victory of Christ over all satanic forces, subduing and taming them,” he announced as he elaborated on the word of the month.
Pastor Chris reiterated to the global congregation that the blessings of the past ‘Month of Great Grace‘ would be carried into the next as he ministered. Reading from 1 John 5:4, he highlighted that God’s people will never be overcome, irrespective of several attempts over the years.
Also, reading from Psalm 82:5-7 and other scriptures, Pastor Chris taught that God needs his people to provide solutions in a world whose foundation is out of course, saying:
“Have you seen cruelty in your city or nation?” He continued, “You can’t be quiet. God is saying, where are my conquerors and victors? ” Stand up and make your voice heard in Heaven and on earth,” he remarked, urging the saints to speak for God, for liberty, and for all that is right. Pastor Chris sounded a clarion call to the saints to take authority in the matchless name of Jesus against oppression in their respective nations.
Faith Triumphs Everything
Reading from 1 John 5:4, Pastor Chris highlighted the scripture, “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” He explained that the “world” refers to the cosmos—its systems, arrangements, order, and governments. Our faith triumphs over everything the world offers, including its systems and powers.
In his message, Pastor Chris delved deeper into why the scriptures emphasize this truth. Referring to 1 John 5:1, he quoted, “Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and everyone that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.” He emphasized that if you believe in Jesus as the Christ, you are born of God. He explained that the phrase “whatsoever is born of God” includes not just individuals but also everything that originates from God, including His words, which overcome the world.
Pastor Chris then asked, “Who is he that overcometh the world?” and answered with 1 John 5:5, which states, “Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?” As believers, we are world overcomers; our faith ensures we are never defeated. Despite countless attempts over the past 2,000 years to eliminate Christianity, we continue to stand firm because we are born of God.
Our Identity in Christ
Pastor Chris further elaborated on our identity and inheritance in Christ, drawing from 1 John 5:10-15. Pastor Chris declared, “He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself.” This belief in Christ gives us confidence in prayer, as emphasized in verses 14 and 15: “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.” With this assurance, we are compelled to pray earnestly, especially for all men and those in authority, as instructed in 1 Timothy 2:1. Pastor Chris emphasized the power and authority we have in prayer, highlighting the importance of standing firm in faith, knowing that God hears and answers us.
Truimph Over Challenges
Turning to Romans 8:35-37, Pastor Chris reminded the congregation of the challenges believers face yet triumph over: “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.” He explained that in every situation, we are more than conquerors, and we go beyond mere victory.
Continuing his teaching, Pastor Chris referenced Psalm 82:6, “I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High. But ye shall die like men and fall like one of the princes.” He pointed out that God is addressing His people, urging them to take action. He warned that if we fail to act, we risk the same fate as those who perish without fulfilling their purpose. The prayer in Psalm 74:20-21, “Have respect unto the covenant: for the dark places of the earth are full of the habitations of cruelty,” serves as a call to recognize the cruelty and oppression in the world and to pray fervently against it.
Pastor Chris encouraged the global congregation to pray for those who are oppressed, explained that weaponizing justice against individuals is a form of oppression, and urged believers to pray that the oppressed would not return ashamed.
As we embrace this Month of Conquerors, let us rise to our calling, speaking boldly for God, freedom, and liberty. We are more than conquerors, moving from glory to glory, faith to faith, and grace to grace.
